MSF staffers delivered initial donation of emergency trauma kits (covering approximately 200 patients) to José María Vargas Hospital in La Guaira.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are currently in Caracas, Venezuela, where 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes struck in rapid succession on June 24. Hundreds of people are reported to have died and thousands more are injured.

We delivered a donation of emergency trauma kits for approximately 200 patients to José María Vargas Hospital in La Guaira and our teams are working to donate hundreds more to other hospitals in need. We are assessing the needs to see how we can support the local authorities’ response. We will continue donating trauma kits, scaling up resources, and coordinating with local partners, while also preparing a more comprehensive medical humanitarian response.

MSF USA is entirely funded by independent donors. When a disaster strikes, we can act fast and save lives — sometimes within a matter of hours.
