Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are currently working in Caracas and La Guaira, Venezuela, where 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes struck in rapid succession on June 24. Over 1,400 people are reported to have died and thousands more have been injured or displaced.
Right now, MSF teams continue to prepare and distribute emergency medical kits. As of today, we have distributed supplies to eight hospitals in Caracas and La Guaira that can provide treatment for approximately 3,500 patients.
As the needs of our patients evolve, so does our work. Our teams are prepared to adapt and support the evolving medical humanitarian needs as the response moves beyond the initial trauma phase.
